Join a Psilocybin Research Study for CRPS & Chronic Pain Relief
We are excited to begin an IRB-approved research study exploring psilocybin-assisted therapy as a potential treatment for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). This study is being conducted through a partnership between Bendable Therapy and Osmind.
The study offers a legal, supportive, and guided program where eligible individuals can explore a promising new approach to managing CRPS. All psilocybin program costs will be covered for approved study participants and travel and lodging expenses are reimbursable up to $1000.
What the Program Involves
If accepted, you will complete the following psilocybin program provided by Bendable Therapy:
- A virtual screening and orientation session
- Two preparation sessions with your facilitator, held virtually or in-person
- An in-person psilocybin session (6–8 hours) at Bendable Therapy in Bend, Oregon (travel stipend provided)
- Two integration sessions to help process your experience, held virtually or in-person
- Participants must be willing to complete pre- and post-program surveys and brief feedback interviews to help us document experiences and outcomes.
The entire program is structured to take place over 3 to 4 weeks, with follow-up surveys extended over a few months. Preparation, integration, and feedback interviews are held remotely on your schedule. Plan for 3 to 4 days in Bend, Oregon for the psilocybin session.
We are currently seeking a small number of individuals with a CRPS diagnosis to participate. Please click the button below to complete a brief form and take the first step:
What is CRPS?
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition that often develops after an injury, surgery, or trauma, though sometimes it occurs without a clear cause. It typically affects one limb (like an arm, leg, hand, or foot) but can spread to other areas. CRPS causes intense, burning pain that feels disproportionate to the initial injury, along with symptoms like:
- Swelling or stiffness in the affected area.
- Changes in skin color (red, blue, or mottled), temperature (hot or cold), or texture (shiny or thin).
- Sensitivity to touch or cold, where even light contact feels painful.
- Muscle weakness, tremors, or difficulty moving the limb.
What is Psilocybin, and Why Investigate It?
Psilocybin is a natural compound found in certain mushrooms. Emerging research suggests it may help with chronic pain, depression, and other conditions by changing how the brain processes pain and emotions. Thanks to Oregon’s psilocybin program (Measure 109), we can now explore this treatment in a safe, supervised setting. This study is a first step to see if psilocybin-assisted therapy could help people with CRPS feel better.
All psilocybin products used in this program are 100% natural and derived from psilocybin containing mushrooms.
What’s Involved in the Study?
If you join the program, you’ll:
- Work with a team of trained professionals in a supportive environment.
- Receive legal psilocybin during carefully guided therapy sessions.
- Participate in screenings and follow-up visits to track your pain, mood, and overall well-being.
The program is designed to be safe and comfortable, with your care and safety as the top priorities.
Who Can Participate?
We’re looking for people who:
- Have been diagnosed with CRPS type 1 by a healthcare provider.
- Are 25 years or older (per Oregon regulations).
- Have not found enough relief from other CRPS treatments.
- Have not participated in a another interventional clinical trial within 30 days.
Detailed requirements will be reviewed during a screening process to ensure the program is a good fit for you.
Why Consider Joining?
- Explore a New Option: You’ll have access to a next-generation therapy that may help with CRPS pain.
- Contribute to Research: Your participation could help learn more about treating CRPS, benefiting others in the future.
- Receive Supportive Care: The program team will guide you every step of the way in a caring, professional setting.
